Invoice template for Excel
Excel can add up an invoice, but it is awkward to format and easy to break. See what to include and a quicker alternative.
Blank tax invoice template, ready to fill in.
An empty A4 tax invoice with every field in place. The Excel version adds up the totals for you. No sign-up, no email needed.
What goes on the invoice
- Your name or business name and contact details
- A unique invoice number and the date
- The client’s name and address
- Rows for each item, with quantity, rate and amount
- Subtotal, tax, discount and total
- Payment terms and how to pay
The free invoice maker puts these in the right places, adds up the totals for you and downloads a clean PDF. No sign-up needed.
Three things worth getting right.
Formulas do the maths
If you use Excel, multiply quantity by rate in a column and sum the column. One typed number in place of a formula can throw the total off.
Lock what should not change
Protect the cells with formulas so you do not overwrite them while editing.
Print to PDF to send
Do not send the spreadsheet. Save it as a PDF so the layout and numbers stay as you intended.
