What goes on the invoice
- Your name or business name and contact details
- A unique invoice number and the date
- Your client’s name and address
- Each item or service, with quantity and price
- Tax and any discount, then the total
- Due date and how to pay
The free invoice maker puts these in the right places, adds up the totals for you and downloads a clean PDF. No sign-up needed.
Three things worth getting right.
A PDF protects your invoice
Unlike a Word or Excel file, a PDF keeps its layout and cannot be changed by accident, which is why most clients prefer it.
Name the file well
Use the invoice number in the file name, like INV-0042.pdf. It makes your records and your client’s easy to search.
Keep a copy
Save every PDF you send so you can resend it or check it later without rebuilding it.
