Invoice template for copywriters.
Bill for the copy, the rounds of edits and the retainer, on an invoice that is as clear as the words you write.
What goes on copywriters’ invoices
- Each deliverable by name: pages, emails, ads or scripts
- How you priced it: per project, per page, per word or per hour
- Rounds of edits included, with extra rounds as their own line
- Research, interviews or strategy calls if you charge for them
- When the rights to the copy pass to the client, usually on payment
- A deposit already paid, the balance and a real due date
Wizard Invoice asks for these one question at a time, fills in your logo, colour and payment details on its own, and sends the result by WhatsApp, email, PDF or a link.
Three habits that help copywriters get paid.
Price the outcome, list the parts
Quote one price for the website or the launch, then list the pages or emails underneath. The client sees the value and the detail at the same time.
Cap the edit rounds
Two rounds is a common default. Write it on the quote and the invoice, so a fifth round of “small tweaks” becomes a paid line, not a favour.
Invoice retainers in advance
For a monthly retainer, send the invoice at the start of the month for that month’s work. It keeps cash steady and the scope clear.
