Invoice template for the UK
A clean UK invoice with the details HMRC and your clients expect: your business name, a unique number, VAT where it applies, and how to pay.
Blank tax invoice template, ready to fill in.
An empty A4 tax invoice with every field in place. The Excel version adds up the totals for you. No sign-up, no email needed.
What goes on the invoice
- Your name or business name and address (a trading name is fine for sole traders)
- A unique invoice number and the invoice date
- Your client’s name and address
- A description of what you supplied, with quantities and prices
- VAT shown separately, with your VAT registration number, if you are VAT registered
- Payment terms and bank details, including sort code and account number
The free invoice maker puts these in the right places, adds up the totals for you and downloads a clean PDF. No sign-up needed.
Three things worth getting right.
Number invoices in order
Keep one running sequence with no gaps. It makes your records easy to check and shows clients you are organised.
Say when you want paying
State the due date and the payment method on the invoice. UK businesses can also charge late payment interest, so mention your terms up front.
Only add VAT if you are registered
If you are not VAT registered, leave VAT off and do not show a VAT number. Once you are registered, the standard rate is 20 percent for most services.
